KUALA LUMPUR (July 9): The Ministry of Health today declared the end of a cleaning company cluster in Kuala Lumpur.

Up until today, 33 individuals have been screened, comprising sixteen Malaysians and seventeen foreigners.

From this total, only four positive Covid-19 cases were detected involving three company workers and one of their close contacts.

“All these four cases were Indonesians,” said health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

According to his statement, this cluster was detected through a workplace screening involving ten foreign workers.

The MoH reported that there were fifteen workplace clusters, of which 11 have officially ended, while four clusters remain active.

The four active clusters include a construction site in Kuala Lumpur, the Pedas cluster, another cleaning company cluster and the Kuching construction site cluster.

Overall, 10,362 individuals have been screened from all 15 workplace clusters, comprising 4,242 Malaysians and 6,120 foreign workers.

The screening detected 722 positive cases, involving 122 Malaysians and 600 foreign workers.

The foreign workers who were infected were 234 Bangladesh nationals, 212 from Nepal, 109 from Indonesia, 36 from Myamnar, seven from India, one from Cambodia, and one from Vietnam.

Yesterday, the MoH declared that the Seri Petaling tabligh cluster — the largest in the country — had ended, after the last active case was detected 28 days ago.

Malaysia reported six imported cases today, bringing the cumulative cases in the country to 8,683.
