KUALA LUMPUR (June 10): The Ministry of Health (MoH) has announced two new Covid-19 cases today — the lowest daily figure recorded since March 3 (three cases).

This brought the total positive cases in the country to 8,338.

Of the two new cases reported today, one was an imported case while another one was a local transmission involving a foreign worker in Kuching, Sarawak who had close contact with patient no. 8,303.

In his daily briefing, health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said no local transmissions were recorded among Malaysians today.

This is the third consecutive day Malaysia recorded a single-digit number of new cases, and is also the lowest daily figure recorded since the Movement Control Order was implemented on March 18.

Previously, Malaysia recorded seven new cases on Monday (June 8) and yesterday (June 9).

There are currently 1,206 active cases in the country — the lowest since May 17 (1,210 active cases).

Meanwhile, five patients are in intensive care, with none of them needing to use a ventilator.

However, one more person succumbed to Covid-19, raising the death toll to 118, translating to 1.42% of overall cases.

The deceased was a 61-year-old man who had diabetes and kidney failure.

He had attended the Seri Petaling tabligh gathering and was pronounced dead at 7.03am today.

The number of recovered patients today continued to exceed the number of new cases, with 39 recoveries reported.

This brought the total recovered patients to 7,014, representing an 84.1% recovery rate.
