KUALA LUMPUR (June 20): All states in Malaysia are now free of Covid-19 red zones, as the number of active cases continue to decline.

This comes after Rembau district in Negeri Sembilan saw the number of active cases falling to 38 as of noon today from 43 a day ago, according to health ministry data.

The ministry has three categories of Covid-19 zones: Red zones are defined as districts with at least 41 active Covid-19 cases, yellow zones have one to 40 cases, while green zones have no active cases.

Negeri Sembilan, which is the last state to be declared free from red zones, has 44 active cases, comprising Rembau (38), Seremban (five) and Jempol (one). Four health districts, namely Tampin, Port Dickson, Jelebu and Kuala Pilah are declared as green zones.

Selangor has 34 active cases — the second highest number of active cases among all states and federal territories — with both Hulu Langat and Sepang having eight active cases, Kuala Selangor (seven), Gombak (four), Sabak Bernam (three), Klang (two), Kuala Langat (one), and Petaling (one).

The ministry said the active cases detected during the two-week period from June 7 to today were local transmissions involving Malaysians and non-citizens, and all the patients were being treated in hospitals.

Kuala Lumpur has 31 active cases, Melaka has four, Pahang (two) and Perak (one).

Sabah has 12 active cases, while Sarawak has 11.

Meanwhile, Penang, Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Johor, Putrajaya and Labuan are listed as green zones.

Malaysia reported 21 new cases of Covid-19 today. This brings the total number of cases so far to 8,556, of which still active cases amount to 289.
