KUALA LUMPUR (June 20): The Ministry of Health said it has detected a new Covid-19 cluster in Labu Lanjut, Sepang, with five confirmed infections.

It said the index case involved a patient who was being treated for acute respiratory infection (ARI) at Serdang Hospital. The patient tested positive for Covid-19 on June 5.

The source of infection is still being investigated, although it is suspected to be linked to visitation activity, said health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement.

Through active case detection conducted by the ministry, the patient’s two children and two grandchildren also tested positive for the virus, he said.

Dr Noor Hisham said three of the family members lived in the same house, while another lived in a different place.

He said 29 close contacts have been identified by the ministry and they had undergone screening, with 25 of them testing negative for Covid-19.

Malaysia reported 21 new cases of Covid-19 today, raising the total number of cases to 8,556.
