KUALA LUMPUR (March 29): Artroniq Bhd (formerly known as Plastrade Technology Bhd), responding to an unusual market activity (UMA) query by Bursa Securities, said it is in the midst of discussions to acquire an ICT company and monetise its manufacturing business.

Artroniq is involved in the manufacturing of compounds for power cables and distributing ICT products.

"The group is currently in discussions to acquire a stake in an ICT company as well as to monetise the assets of the group's previous manufacturing business," Artroniq said in a filing on Tuesday (March 29).

It added that details have yet to be finalised at this juncture.

The group said the move is aimed at enhancing its earnings and strengthen its financial position.

Artroniq was slapped with the UMA query earlier on Tuesday after its share price rose 7.27% or four sen to close at 59 sen with some 9.89 million shares exchanging hands.

Compared with Feb 28's closing price of 31 sen, the counter has rallied over 90% within a one-month period.
