KUALA LUMPUR (April 13): Former Bank Rakyat chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Syed Abdul Aziz Syed Hassan has been appointed as group deputy chairman of TWL Holdings Bhd.

In a statement on Thursday (April 13), the real estate developer said Syed Abdul Aziz will replace Shirley Tan Lee Chin, who is being redesignated as TWL managing director.

"Syed Abdul Aziz brings a wealth of experience and expertise to TWL given his leadership role in the financial industry previously," it said.

According to TWL, he has over thirty years of experience in finance, holding various leadership positions at Bank Rakyat.

Tan said that the group is thrilled to welcome Syed Abdul Aziz as its new deputy chairman. 

"As we continue to navigate the dynamic landscape of property development, his extensive experience, strategic acumen, and proven leadership will undoubtedly be invaluable assets to our group. We look forward to working together to drive TWL to new heights," she said.

Syed Abdul Aziz holds a degree in Business Administration from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UITM), earning the senior management programme for his professional qualification with Harvard Business University.

At 3.30pm, shares in TWL was unchanged at five sen, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM201.82 million.
