KUALA LUMPUR (April 11): MYAirline Sdn Bhd, Malaysia’s newest low-cost airline, has inducted its sixth aircraft to its fleet to meet growing demand for its products and services.

The airline plans to have a total of 20 aircraft by year-end to expand its domestic route network and start its international flights in the region, it said in a statement on Tuesday (April 11).

According to MYAirline, adding aircraft to its fleet is an important strategic decision which required careful planning and consideration from various factors, such as market demand, financial viability and operational efficiency.

“The induction of new aircraft requires planning and coordination to ensure that the aircraft meets all safety and performance requirements. Most importantly, it needs to be seamlessly integrated into the existing operations,” said MYAirline chief executive officer Rayner Teo.

He added that the newest aircraft also fits the company’s policy in meeting its operational efficiency and on-time performance (OTP) goal.

“We are also confident to improve operational efficiency by scheduling more frequencies to the existing routes, as our seventh aircraft will be inducted very soon,” he said.

MYAirline’s route network comprises Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Langkawi, Kota Bharu, Penang, Sibu, Tawau and Miri, with the upcoming Kota Kinabalu-to-Tawau intracity.

“It will be an exciting time for us, as we are planning to induct more aircraft moving forward. We are looking forward to taking advantage of the growth opportunities with our commitment to expansion in this region. This factor allows us to capture a share of the growing demand for travel post-Covid, and expand our customer base in Asean,” Teo added.
