KUALA LUMPUR (March 6): Citaglobal Bhd said it has secured a contract for the development of a jetty project in Perlis, raising its orderbook to RM933.2 million from RM733.2 million.

The group said its wholly owned subsidiary Citaglobal Engineering Services Sdn Bhd will undertake the Sanglang Integrated Jetty project for Mutiara Perlis Sdn Bhd.

"The full development of the Sanglang project is divided into four phases. The contract sum of Phase 1A is RM200 million, while the contract sum for the other phases has yet to be determined. Citaglobal will first finalise the award to execute Phase 1A of this project,” the group said in a statement.

The Sanglang project is developed under the Perlis Maritime Corridor, which aims to facilitate the state's development in terms of logistics, tourism, aquaculture and fisheries.

This project will provide jetty facilities for berthing of merchant ships, luxury cruise and yachts, deep-sea fish and oil and gas; and provide maintenance, repair and overhauling services for merchant ships.

In the revised Budget 2023 tabled on Feb 24, an additional amount was specifically allocated to support the Sanglang project in order to handle petroleum cargo and bulk cargo.

“Our successful completion of Phase 1 of the Kedah Rubber City project could have been one of the factors in earning us the credentials to undertake this important project. Our immediate focus is to finalise Phase 1A of the Sanglang project contract as well and efficiently as possible,” said Citaglobal executive chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria.

This is the second project won by Citaglobal in Perlis in less than six months.

On Aug 30, 2022, Citaglobal bagged a RM373.5 million contract to construct Phase 1 of the Perlis Inland Port.

Shares of Citaglobal rose six sen or 3.95% to RM1.58, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM599.56 million.
