KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 16): DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang said former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had declared war by completely ignoring the Yang di Pertuan Agong’s wishes that he will not swear in another PM before his five-year reign ends next January.
In a statement on Thursday (Feb 16), Lim said Muhyiddin’s speech during a debate on the motion of thanks on the royal address in the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday was a declaration of war indicating that he will not be restrained by the Yang di Pertuan Agong’s royal address at the opening of the 15th Parliament on Monday from enacting another Sheraton Move political conspiracy to usher in a “back-door” PM again.
In his speech, Muhyiddin warned Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that the latter’s premiership may face a backlash if he does not take public sentiment into consideration in running the country.
“It is not fair, and you think you can last forever? I was once a PM, Bera (former PM Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob) is here as well. We were PMs, but our time was short. Allah said he can ascend or descend us, I understand.
"But don’t presume that Tambun (Anwar) can be there forever. After you, there will be another person. There will be backlash. I am warning you, don’t take it lightly,” Muhyiddin said.
Lim said Muhyiddin was confident of the “green wave” phenomenon, echoing Perikatan Nasional (PN) leaders who said PN could capture Selangor, and that PN had a 50-50 chance to capture Negeri Sembilan in the coming state general elections of Penang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, which will be held in June or July this year.
“It is clear from Muhyiddin’s speech in Parliament that PN wants the six state general elections to be a mini-parliamentary election, where an overwhelming PN victory will be the basis for another Sheraton Move political conspiracy to topple Anwar as the 10th PM.
“Muhyiddin wants the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong to work with five PMs in five years from 2019 to 2024, but the decision will be in the hands of the voters in the six states in the general election in June or July, and not in Muhyiddin’s hands,” said Lim.
