KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 10): Ageson Bhd has denied the allegation about its executive director Datuk Seri Chin Kok Foong regarding the purported involvement of fraudulent documents in 2019 and 2018.

In a Bursa filing on Friday (Feb 10), in a response to media reports over the allegation, Ageson added that Chin denied his involvement and believed that the allegation was targeted at him personally.

“The allegation is not related to the other board of directors of Ageson, Ageson or any entities within Ageson,” it said.

“For clarity, neither Datuk Seri Chin, any directors of Ageson, Ageson nor any entities within Ageson are related to the company mentioned in the news, i.e. APC Builder & Construction Sdn Bhd.

“These false claims are the result of malicious intent and a clear attempt to damage the reputation of Datuk Seri Chin and Ageson.

“Datuk Seri Chin has sought legal advice on the next course of action on this matter and has given full cooperation to the authorities to assist in the investigation into the allegation made against him,” the group added.

Ageson responded to the media coverage on Chin at the magistrate's court in Kuala Lumpur today (Feb 10) where Chin pleaded not guilty to charges of using fake invoices belonging to APC Builder & Construction Sdn Bhd dated September 28, 2019 and May 5, 2020.

According to New Straits Times, he allegedly committed the offence at an office in Kuala Lumpur Sentral 2 in October 2020.

The charges were framed under Section 471 of the Penal Code, in which it is punishable under Section 468 of the same code. It carries a maximum sentence of seven years in jail and a fine upon conviction.

Ageson’s share price closed one sen or 5.13% lower at 18 sen. Its market capitalisation was RM56.22 million.
