KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 22): Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) international reserves stood at US$110.3 billion as at Dec 15, 2022, according to the central bank.

The reserves position is sufficient to finance 5.3 months of imports of goods and services and is 1.1 times of the total short-term external debt, said BNM in a statement on Thursday (Dec 22).

The latest reserves were marginally higher from US$109.7 billion as at Nov 30, 2022.

The main components of BNM's international reserves included foreign currency reserves, which stood at US$98.5 billion, International Monetary Fund (IMF) reserves at US$1.3 billion, and US$5.5 billion worth of IMF-linked special drawing rights (SDRs).

Other components such as gold were worth US$2.1 billion, while other reserve assets stood at US$2.9 billion.
