This book festival on Sunday at MPH Nu Sentral celebrates the Malaysian local writing community regardless of genre, language, medium and experience. #MYWriters BookFest2015 gives people the opportunity to meet and mingle with writers in the local scene and purchase their books. The session will feature writers such as Azida Ishak, Fadzlishah Johanabas, Gavin Yap, Zan Azlee, Carol Fung, and Lydia Teh. #MYWriters BookFest2015 will take place from 3pm to 5pm, tomorrow and Sunday. The 8th Eco Film Fest is back from today until Sunday at Publika Shopping Gallery. The annual festival provides a platform to highlight environmental issues through film and documentary screenings, workshops, exhibitions and talks. Approximately 116 films will be screened this year, all in the running to win the top awards, such as Best Feature, Best Short, Best Documentary and Best Public Service Announcement. Adil Johan Quartet featuring Dasha Logan
Head to No Black Tie tonight to catch Adil Johan back in action and performing his own blend of jazz, funk, R & B and pop. He will be joined by Dasha Logan on the No Black Tie stage, with the intention of playing music that touches the soul and blurs musical genres. They will be reinterpreting non-jazz songs by reimagining them with a jazzy edge, as well as a mixture of covers and original material. Kuala Lumpur City Opera — Fundraising Concert
Catch the Kuala Lumpur City Opera this weekend at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac), held to raise funds for its future works. Formerly known as The Eat, Sing & Travel People or EST Opera, the company plans to stage a full production of Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute), a song festival and an opera open day — the shows that the funds from this concert will be channelled to. The concert will feature local talents, such as Ang Mei Foog, Yeoh Ker Ker, Jane Soong, Lim Yee Fen, Solomon Chong and Yap Jin Hin. The concert will be on at Pentas 1 from tonight until Sunday at 8.30pm and 3pm. Tickets are priced at RM68, RM88, RM108 and RM128. klpac is located in Jalan Strachan, Kuala Lumpur.
