(Aug 4): There will be no let up in the probe into leaked information on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) and funds channelled into the prime minister's bank accounts, the inspector-general of police (IGP) said today.

According to Malaysiakini, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said police would haul up more officers from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Bank Negara and Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) to give their statements.

The IGP also did not discount the possibility of Bank Negara governor Tan Sri Zeti Akthar Aziz and MACC number two Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull being questioned by the police.

"We'll see. Questioning those whom we believe can shed light on an investigation is part of the procedure," Khalid was quoted as saying by Malaysiakini.

"We will be questioning more people from Bank Negara, MACC and the AGC," he added.

Pertaining to Bank Negara officials, Khalid said police reports on the release of banking transactions would also be investigated.

"Police are looking into this as well and on this aspect, we will also be calling officers from commercial banks for questioning," Khalid said, according to Malaysiakini.

Bank Negara has previously denied its officials had leaked banking transaction details.

Pro-Umno bloggers had named both Zeti and Shukri as well as several high-ranking officials from Bank Negara, MACC and the Attorney-General's Chambers as conspiring to bring down Prime Minister Najib Razak.

Police are probing the case under Section 124 of the Penal Code for activities detrimental to parliamentary democracy.

On Saturday, police detained Attorney-General's Chambers officer Jessica Gurmeet Kaur,  former anti-graft agency adviser Tan Sri Rashpal Singh and MACC deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Sazalee Abdul Khairil for questioning.

All three were released within 24 hours after police failed to get a remand order to extend their detention.

Khalid stressed that police are only investigating these officers and enforcement institutions on the leak of documents, and not because of anything to do with the 1MDB probe.

"This has nothing to do with their role in investigating the allegations concerning 1MDB but rather the police reports on the leak of documents," he was quoted as saying by Malaysiakini. – The Malaysian Insider
