KUALA LUMPUR (March 24): Volvo Car Malaysia Sdn Bhd plans to expand its plant in Shah Alam, Selangor, as the company eyes more export markets.

Volvo Car Malaysia managing director Lennart Stegland said the company has been exporting its cars to Thailand. Looking ahead, he said the company planned to export its vehicles to Taiwan.

Stegland was speaking to reporters at the launch of the Volvo S90 and V90 models here today.

He said the S90 would be Volvo's statement on the future direction of premium sedans. Meanwhile, the V90 will pay homage to the strong heritage and history in the premium estate segment, according to him.

"We are aware that the estate segment is very niche in Malaysia but if we look at the increasingly dynamic lifestyle of Malaysians, we are certain that more and more people will rediscover the appeal of a premium estate," he said.
