KUALA LUMPUR (March 11): Velesto Energy Bhd (VEB) said its unit has received a two-year contract to provide jack-up drilling rigs to Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB).

PCSB's contract was awarded to Velesto Drilling Sdn Bhd (VED), which is mainly engaged in offshore drilling and operations and other engineering services for oil and gas exploration, development and production in Malaysia and overseas.

The project is expected to commence in the first quarter of this year, with an extension option of one year plus one year.

“VED will provide its suite of VEB Group’s NAGA rigs as call out by PCSB subject to the rig availability and suitability based on PCSB’s requirement,” said the group in a bourse filing.

It added that the contract is expected to contribute to the earnings and net assets of VEB Group for the financial periods ending Dec 31, 2022 (FY22) and FY23.

VEB shares closed down 4.35% or half a sen at 11 sen, translating into a market capitalisation of RM903.72 million. It saw some 22.15 million shares done.
