KUALA LUMPUR (July 3): UNITAR International University (UNITAR) is set to expand its presence further in East Malaysia.

In a statement today, UNITAR said it aims to offer its full range of 36 academic programmes from both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in both Sabah and Sarawak.

UNITAR vice chancellor Professor Dr. Noor Raihan Ab Hamid said after lengthy discussions with its current partner in East Malaysia, the parties had come to a mutual agreement to allow UNITAR to expand its academic offerings more extensively in both Sabah and Sarawak.

"UNITAR has been present in East Malaysia since 1997, and we are committed to ensuring that both Sabahans and Sarawakians will continue to benefit from our brand of quality, innovative, and affordable education. We are here to stay and grow with Sabah and Sarawak for the long term.”

"The interest and welfare of our students are at the top of our priority. While UNITAR transitions into a new phase of growth in East Malaysia, we would like to assure our students, parents, and stakeholders that all existing UNITAR students will be able to continue with their studies as usual. UNITAR will also be providing continuous updates on our expansion plans,” she said.

Noor Raihan said students who are currently undertaking UNITAR’s academic programmes in Sabah and Sarawak can continue to complete their studies in the same facility.

Meanwhile, new students who are interested in enrolling in UNITAR’s academic programmes can now participate in 'Jom Daftar & Terbang ke Semenanjung’, which offers students a unique away-from-home study experience at UNITAR’s Main Campus in the Klang Valley.

She said through this initiative, students are able to live and study in the Klang Valley for two semesters.

“After two semesters, participating students have the option to transfer back to Sabah or Sarawak to complete their studies.

“UNITAR will offer a 20% discount on tuition fees and cover flight and accommodation expenses for three years, subject to terms and conditions,” she said.
