KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 2): Mobile service provider U Mobile Sdn Bhd aims to register two million new subscribers by end of 2014.

"I'm happy to share that after three weeks since the launch of our Vision 2 Million, we have already earn[ed] 400,000 new subscribers," the company's Chief Marketing Officer Jasmine Lee said in a media briefing today.

U Mobile currently has a subscriber base of five million.

In the event today, the company also announced its collaboration with two internet video streaming service providers — YouTube and Tonton, to roll out its third wave of promotion offering.

"If you notice, we launched our previous marketing programme three weeks ago, so perhaps you can expect more offerings from us in the next similar period," she said, "so we are confident to achieve the two million new subscribers target this year.

U Mobile had previously mentioned that its current focus is to expand its market share, before launching its initial public offering exercise later next year.
