PETALING JAYA (May 9): Pakatan Harapan claims the Election Commission is deliberately holding back the results of the Malaysian 14th General Election, which has the PH coalition "practically" clinching over 112 seats required to form a government.

Pakatan Harapan chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad told a packed Press conference at Sheraton Hotel here tonight: “It seems that in many of the constituencies, the counting has actually finished, but the officers concerned refused to sign Form 14, and because of that, the official announcement cannot be made.”

Form 14 is the EC's official statement of counting in a polling station and cannot be amended.

He further claimed that there is possibly "hanky panky" in the process right now by Barisan Nasional in order to frustrate the will of the people.

“They are not announcing because we believe, from our unofficial counting, that they are left far behind, and the likelihood is that they will not be forming the government,” he said.

“We also believe that certain meetings are being held, and we worry about the intention behind these meetings, which involve big names,” Tun Mahathir added.

He warns that if the situation at hand is not handled by the authorities, the national security law may be applied and people will get arrested.

“I hope and I pray, that the people who are responsible for keeping law and order in this country will not tolerate any deliberate attempt to create a situation which will end up with the national security law being applied, and people [being] arrested,” he said.

“This is very serious, the time is very late now, (the results) should be coming out [and] by now we would know who is winning and who is losing, but there is a deliberate attempt to delay by not signing Form 14,” he added.
