KUALA LUMPUR (March 13): TRC Synergy Bhd has bagged a contract for Projek Mass Rapid Transit Laluan 2: Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP) from Mass Rapid Transit Corp Sdn Bhd for RM858.18 million.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the company said the contract,  known as — Package V205 : Construction and Completion of Viaduct Guideway and Other Associated Works from Kampung Muhibbah to Serdang Raya — was awarded to its wholly-owned subsidiary, Trans Resource Corp Sdn Bhd, last Friday.

“The project will not have any effect on the issued and paid-up share capital, substantial shareholders' shareholdings, net assets per share and gearing of the company and its subsidiaries,” said TRC Synergy.

This confirms reports last Friday citing Mass Rapid Transit Corp Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp). MRT Corp in statement has said it has awarded work packages worth a total of RM2.74 billion to four companies for the MRT2 construction.
 
The companies are Trans Resources Corporation Sdn Bhd, Gadang Engineering (M) Sdn Bhd, Acre Works Sdn Bhd and Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd.

Barring unforeseen circumstances,TRC said that the board opined that the project will contribute positively to the earnings and earnings per share of the TRC Group in the future.

TRC Synergy added that none of its directors, its substantial shareholders or person connected with directors and substantial shareholders has any interest in the project.

“The board, after having considered all aspects of the offer is of the opinion that the project is in the best interest of the TRC Group,” said TRC Synergy.

Shares in TRC Synergy closed down four sen or 8.42% at 51.5 sen, giving it a market capitalisation of RM247.46 million.
