KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 3): The Public Accounts Comittee (PAC) will call up two ministries over possible misappropriations in the second half of last year, said PAC chairman Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee.

This is based on the findings provided in the 2017 Auditor-General’s Report (Series Two) which identified the two ministries as the Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Explaining briefly on the findings, Kiandee said: “There are a few agencies that had been given the “clean bill”, and compliments based on their performance.

"There were also few government agencies, departments, and ministries that have been given cautions,” he said, pointing to agencies such as Lembaga Tabung Haji.

Issues involving the ministries concerned purchases, as well as transfer of grants without approval, among others, he said.

The ministries involved need to take punitive actions pending further investigations, which may see the involvement of the Public Service Department if the offences were conducted by government servants, as well as other related authorities, Kiandee said.
