KUALA LUMPUR (July 29): Just a day after five Caely Holdings Bhd directors joined the board of Top Builders Capital Bhd, the construction engineering firm went on to appoint the 22-year-old Koo Soon Seng as its executive director, effective Friday (July 29).

Notably, Koo is the son of Wong Siaw Puie, who is the executive vice chairman of Caely and Top Builders, according to local bourse filings.

“Koo started his career in the food and beverages (F&B) industry, assisting in the promotion of F&B services, handling part operational activities of F&B outlets and customer care services,” it said.

Meanwhile, in a separate local bourse filing, Top Builders also announced the departure of Independent Director Lok Ping Chow and Executive Director Yong Kok Yee, effective Friday.

On Thursday (July 28), five directors of Caely — a troubled lingerie maker — were appointed to the board of Top Builders.

Besides Wong, another four of them are Caely Chairman Datuk Loh Ming Choon, Caely Executive Director Datuk Seri Sin Hock Min, as well as Caely Independent Directors Datuk Mohammad Hanafiah Zakaria and Ng Mei Choo.

To recap, Caely's board of directors had on June 16 lodged a police report against Leong Seng Hui, Kok Kwang Lim and Valhalla Capital Sdn Bhd, who had called for an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) the previous day.

Leong had claimed in a statement after the EGM that nine Caely directors, including Loh, Hanafiah, Sin, Wong and Ng, have been removed from the board.

Loh, however, insisted that the EGM was illegal and the nine were still directors of the group.

Shares in Top Builders closed half sen or 12.5% higher to 4.5 sen on Friday, giving it a market capitalisation of RM31.77 million.
