KUALA LUMPUR: Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has appointed Shahazwan Harris (pic) as the chief international officer of its International Asset Group division, effective July 1.

“His involvement in various sectors, such as energy, telecommunications, technology, utility, aviation, sustainable development [including renewables], oil and gas and healthcare will be of value to TNB’s long-term strategy to become a Top 10 Global Utility by 2025,” said TNB president/chief executive officer Amir Hamzah Azizan in a statement yesterday.

According to the statement, Shahazwan — who is currently chief strategy and transformation officer of Bursa Malaysia-listed UEM Edgenta Bhd — has 23 years of experience in investments, mergers and acquisitions, portfolio and asset management, and corporate strategy and restructuring.

He also sits on the board of UMW Holdings Bhd and is an advisory committee member of StashAway, a robo-advisory platform in Singapore and Malaysia.

The former TNB scholar previously worked for TNB for four years from 1996, before moving on to PA Consulting Group, Boston Consulting Group and Khazanah Nasional Bhd, where he worked across Asia.

TNB currently owns stakes in power-related assets in the UK, Turkey, India, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
