KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 10): Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) announced that its chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan has tendered his resignation from the post, effective Feb 28.

Amir Hamzah's resignation is due to him accepting a new appointment by the Minister of Finance, the group said in a bourse filing today.

The Edge CEO Morning Brief today reported that Amir Hamzah is slated to join the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) as its CEO, quoting sources.

This will mark the second change in leadership at EPF in three years, after incumbent CEO Tunku Alizakri Alias took over from his predecessor Datuk Shahril Ridza Ridzuan in August 2018.

Amir Hamzah, 53, joined TNB in April 2019 succeeding Datuk Seri Azman Mohd, who helmed the utility giant for over six years.

Shares of TNB ended six sen or 0.62% at RM9.76 during noon market close, for a market capitalisation of RM55.68 billion.
