KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 14): Integrated copper products manufacturer Ta Win Holdings Bhd (Ta Win) has appointed the Malaysian Nuclear Agency (Nuclear Malaysia) to provide it technical evaluation/consultation services.

In a statement yesterday, Ta Win said Nuclear Malaysia, an agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation will provide the services to its subsidiary Cyprium Wire Technology Sdn Bhd (CWT).

It said these services will be provided during the commissioning and operation of electron beam irradiation systems at CWT’s existing manufacturing facilities in Alor Gajah Industrial Estate, Melaka.

The appointment is effective from Oct 12, 2021 for a period of two years.

Ta Win group managing director Datuk Sri Ngu Tieng Ung said the appointment of Nuclear Malaysia represents an important milestone in facilitating the establishment of our electron beam irradiation plant.

“Nuclear Malaysia will provide crucial technical know-how and expertise on the development and operations of the plant, including conducting inspections and site visits, and ensure that CWT’s irradiation protection protocols and safety procedures are in line with requirements.

“The electron beam irradiation plant will be a landmark development in Malaysia, fulfilling local electrical wire and cable industry demand, and localising production of electrical wire and cable products in Malaysia’s manufacturing sector,” said Ngu.

Ta Win last traded at 12.5 sen, giving it a market capitalisation of RM426.70 million.
