KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 17): Ta Ann Holdings Bhd said the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has confirmed that its checking found no evidence to show that Ta Ann and its group of companies were involved in any illegal logging activities under the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Act (MACC) 2009.

"We wish to advise that MACC has confirmed their checking found no evidence to show that the Companies were involved in any offence under the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Act (MACC) 2009," it said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.

On May 13, Ta Ann had announced that the group and two of its subsidiaries, Ta Ann Plywood Sdn Bhd and Lik Shen Sawmill Sdn Bhd were cooperating fully with the MACC's state wide investigation into illegal logging activities in Sarawak, which started on May 12.

Ta Ann had stated that its policy is to use only legal logs for timber processing at the group’s plywood mill and sawmill.

"Our stakeholders can be rest assured that the wood used is legally sourced," it had said.

Later on Aug 28, Ta Ann had announced that the freeze on certain of its bank accounts by the anti-graft agency had been uplifted.

Ta Ann shares closed up 15 sen or 3.67% at RM4.24 today, bringing a market capitalisation of RM1.57 billion.
