KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 24): Supermax Corp Bhd said today the rubber glove manufacturer has issued a scam alert, claiming that certain unauthorised parties are taking advantage of the global shortage of gloves and Supermax's prominence and good standing to attempt and commit fraud.

In a statement, Supermax said there are parties who claim to be involved in sales and marketing of nitrile and latex gloves as well as other personal protective equipment produced by Supermax and its subsidiaries Supermax Glove Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, Maxter Glove Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, Maxwell Glove Manufacturing Bhd and SuperVision Optimax Sdn Bhd.  

"These unauthorised parties claim to be readily able to provide volume, stock and capacity and have disseminated fabricated documents to support their false claims. 

"There are also investment scam syndicates and fraudulent parties using our corporate credentials to promote investment schemes via social media. These parties are claiming high returns within a short period of time.

"Be advised not to entertain such claims as these are fraudulent claims, and Supermax has no affiliation with these unauthorised parties. Please exercise caution and be vigilant so as not to fall victim to such scams,” Supermax said.

Supermax said if any parties are found to be fraudulently claiming or misrepresenting themselves to be acting for Supermax, the company reserves the right to legal recourse against such parties.

At Bursa Malaysia’s 12:30pm break today, Supermax's share price settled 10 sen or 1.45% lower at RM6.82, which gives the company a market capitalisation of about RM17.94 billion. A total of 4.11 million shares changed hands.
