(June 5): Negri Sembilan PAS delegate Muhammad Faiz Fadzil, the son of former party president Datuk Fadzil Mohd Noor, today pleaded the party to stop attacking its partners in Pakatan Rakyat (PR).

Faiz told delegates at the 61st Muktamar, or annual congress, that PAS must ensure the opposition coalition continued to survive.

"We can see the weakness in conflict-management among the three parties.

"With the new leadership in place, PAS, as the biggest party in PR, should? solve all the issues efficiently and amicably so that this cooperation is managed well.

"I also request that PAS leaders and members no longer issue statements attacking our friends in PR. We must show magnanimity," Faiz said when debating the president's policy speech in Kuala Selangor.

He said as long as PAS could work well with PR, Malaysians would place their trust in the coalition to rule Putrajaya.

Faiz also reminded delegates not to fight for Muslims alone, adding that the party owed their victory in the last election to Malaysians of all races.

"We need to care about the non-Muslims. We shouldn't forget or become so arrogant due to the 52% support we received in the polls?," he said, referring to PR's share of the popular vote in the 2013 general election.

"The support didn't come from just the Malays, but from people across Malaysia – the Chinese, the Indians, and the Bumiputera of Sabah and Sarawak.

"?Let us not destroy their hopes to see the evils of Barisan Nasional fall," said Faiz.

He said that PAS should also appreciate the efforts of non-governmental organisations in rebuilding the lives of Kelantan's flood victims, after another delegate earlier today slammed such groups for allegedly casting the state government in a bad light.

"We shouldn't underestimate the help given by these NGOs. They are doing this for the sake of the people. We have to put the people's welfare above political interests," said Faiz. – The Malaysian Insider
