KUB Malaysia Bhd (-ve)

SHARES in KUB Malaysia Bhd (fundamental: 2.2/3, valuation: 0.8/3) triggered our momentum algorithm last Friday for the first time this year.

The stock closed up five sen or 8.93% at 61 sen last Friday, with a volume of 28.8 million shares traded, exceeding the counter’s 200-day average volume of 2.62 million shares.

In a filling with Bursa Malaysia at end-February, KUB saw its net profit nearly triple to RM22.5 million or 4.05 sen per share in the financial year ended Dec 31, 2016 (FY16), from RM7.85 million or 1.41 sen per share in FY15 due to better performance of its energy and power segment.

Annual revenue grew 14.7% to RM495.7 million in FY16, from RM432.15 million the previous year.

KUB is optimistic that its core sectors, agriculture and energy, will remain resilient following the robust liquefied petroleum gas sales volume recorded in recent months, and on favourable crude palm oil prices.

At the current share price, KUB is trading at 1.07 times its book value.
