Ekovest Bhd (-ve)

SHARES in Ekovest Bhd (fundamental: 1.15/3, valuation: 1.4/3) climbed 2.34% or three sen to close at RM1.31 yesterday with a relatively high volume of 2.28 million shares compared to its 200-day average volume of 241,437 shares.

The company’s net profit almost doubled to RM6.19 million for the second financial quarter ended Dec 31, 2015 (2QFY16) from RM3.2 million in the previous corresponding quarter. Its revenue grew by 75.1% to RM183.6 million in 2QFY16 from RM104.9 million in the corresponding period a year ago. The increases in profit and revenue were mainly due to higher revenue recognition from the construction segment.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia, the board expects the construction of RM1.18 billion second-phase Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway, toll revenue and recognition of unbilled sales from property development activities to contribute to the group’s profit in FY16 ending June 30, 2016.

At RM1.31, it is trading at a trailing price-earnings ratio of 50.14 times and is 0.93 times its book value.
