Binasat Communications Bhd (-ve)
TRADING of shares in Binasat Communications Bhd (fundamental: N/A, valuation: N/A) triggered our momentum algorithm last Friday for the second time last week. Binasat closed up 6.5 sen or 13.68% at 54 sen, after 94.36 million shares were traded, 36 times the counter’s 200-day average volume of 2.62 million shares.

The group mainly provides supporting services for satellite, mobile and fibre optic telecommunications networks.

For the first financial quarter ended Sept 30, 2019, Binasat saw a 42.4% decline in net profit to RM1.12 million from RM1.94 million a year ago, as revenue fell 11.2% to RM11.63 million from RM13.1 million.

The weaker results were due to lower engineering activities resulting from, among others, reduced engineering and installation works, reduced ad hoc projects for its fibre segment, and fewer equipment supplied.
