LANGKAWI (May 7): A surprise free concert organised by the Ministry of Finance and the Langkawi Development Authority (Lada) has been planned in Dataran Lang, Kuah just 15 minutes away from Pakatan Harapan chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's event, where he will deliver an address to the nation on the eve of polling day.

The star-studded 'Konsert Langkawi Hebat 2018' starts at 8pm tomorrow and will feature artistes such as Datuk Ramli Sarip, Datuk DJ Dave, Joe Flizzow and Dayang Nurfaizah.

The event, which is promoted on Lada’s Facebook page, also highlights a food bazaar, a lucky draw with motorcycles, drones, and smartphones as prizes, and a firework display.

Sources said the sudden announcement of the concert was aimed at enticing Langkawi residents, particularly youths, away from Mahathir's event at Dewan Ho Peng, Kuah.

Mahathir, 92, who is contesting the Langkawi parliamentary seat in Wednesday's polls, is expected to address the nation via a live transmission that will be played at all Pakatan ceramahs nationwide at 9.30pm.

He has been touted to become the prime minister for the second time if Pakatan manages to wrest Putrajaya.
