KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 17): Standard Chartered Bank has appointed Mahendra Gursahani as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Malaysia.

In a statement today, the bank said Mahendra, who was CEO of its Philippines office would report to its Asean CEO Lim Cheng Teck.

Standard Chartered said Mahendra’s career with the bank began over 20 years ago and spanmed across the Bank’s businesses in the Middle East, Asia Pacific, Africa, Europe and Americas.

It said Mahendra’s experience included Retail Banking, Corporate Banking, Credit Risk Management, Asset Management, Audit, Risk and Finance.

Mahendra said Standard Chartered had demonstrated its ability to support the development of Malaysia for 140 years and would continue to reinforce, and grow its business in this market.

“We have a highly talented and diverse team of people, and I look forward to working with them to strengthen our relationships with clients, staff, regulators and communities,” he said.
