KUALA LUMPUR (July 13): Sime Darby Plantation Bhd's June 2021 foreign shareholding fell to its lowest on record at 9.03% from 9.14% in the preceding month (May 2021), according to the latest updates on the oil palm planter's website.

Sime Darby Plantation's foreign shareholding chart, which has records as far back as December 2017, showed that the company's foreign shareholding then was at 13.92%, the highest on record.

The chart showed that Sime Darby Plantation's foreign shareholding for the first time since December 2017 slipped to below 10% in May 2020 when foreign shareholding fell to 9.95% from 10.05% in the preceding month (April 2020).

In June 2020, Sime Darby Plantation's foreign shareholding, however, rose to 10.07%, according to the company.

Sime Darby Plantation's major shareholders include Permodalan Nasional Bhd and the Employees Provident Fund, which owned stakes of about 56.31% and 16.99% respectively in the planter as at June 30, 2021, according to the group.

The company said its free float shares stood at 26.7% as at June 30, 2021.

Sime Darby Plantation's Bursa Malaysia filing on June 4, 2021 indicated that the company's latest reported number of issued shares stood at 6.92 billion.

Today, Sime Darby Plantation shares traded down one sen or 0.26% to RM3.79 at 2:32pm for a market capitalisation of about RM26.23 billion.

Over the last one year, Sime Darby Plantation's share price has fallen to the current level from its closing price of RM5 on July 13, 2020.
