KUALA LUMPUR (June 15): Selangor will be able to achieve a 80% vaccination rate by September as the state plans to ramp up its daily vaccination rate, said National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

In a tweet today, Khairy said the country's most populous state will be ramping up its daily vaccination rate to 135,000 per day in July and 165,000 per day in August.

Based on the latest data from the Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee (JKJAV), Selangor reported the highest number of individuals who had completed their second dose of vaccination at 180,605 as of yesterday (June 14).

Other states that surpassed the 100,000 level for the second dose included Sarawak (159,920), Perak (135,435), Johor (135,621), Kuala Lumpur (127,174) and Sabah (112,114).

Cumulatively, a total of 1.41 million individuals have been fully vaccinated in the country.

In a separate tweet, Khairy highlighted that the drive-through vaccination centre in Ara Damansara, Selangor for the disabled group will start tomorrow (June 16).

The minister also shared earlier that the fourth phase of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme beginning tomorrow will target industry workers.

He added that the fourth phase is meant to reduce the number of infections in workplaces as workplace outbreaks continued to dominate the number of new clusters every day.

A total of 5,419 new Covid-19 cases were reported today (June 15), up from 4,949 yesterday. This brought cumulative cases in the country to 667,876.

Selangor topped the list again with most new Covid-19 infections at 1,996, followed by Sarawak (718) and Kuala Lumpur (650).
