Car park operator-cum-developer SCP Group’s development in Menggatal, Kota Kinabalu — Taman Bukit Damaisari — is fully sold. It launched the last two phases — 3 and 4 — last September.

According to general manager Chuah Jin Teik, the 22.4-acre development will comprise 203 units of 2-storey terraced homes. Phases 1 and 2 were launched in March 2017 and completed in July last year. Phases 3 and 4 are scheduled for completion in the first quarter of next year.

“We offer a practical layout of 20ft by 80ft with a typical built-up of 1,690 sq ft. There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Landed properties are considered rare in the area, which is less than 15km from the city centre,” he says.

“It is one of the biggest neighbourhoods in Menggatal Town and sits on a hilltop. The houses, priced from RM490,000, are targeted at upgraders. The biggest challenge for this development is the [stringent] bank lending policies.”

Chuah adds that each unit has a 25ft-long column-free car porch as well as a spacious open-plan space of about 425 sq ft that includes the dry kitchen and living and dining halls.

A guarded development, Taman Bukit Damaisari has a total gross development value of RM133 million. Amenities nearby include Inanam Mall, Balai Polis Menggatal, SJK (C) Lok Yuk Menggatal, SJK (C) Good Shepherd Menggatal and CKS Supermarket.

Established in 1999 after the Asian financial crisis as Systematic Corporate Parking Sdn Bhd, SCP Group is one of the largest car park operators in the country. Its parking division, SCP Parking, controls more than 14,000 parking bays nationwide.

SCP Group launched the property development division in early 2011, banking on the experience of its directors. It has since completed Inanam Capital and Ashton Tower in Kota Kinabalu as well as Lido Residency in Jalan Loke Yew, Seasons Garden in Wangsa Maju and KL Traders Square in Jalan Gombak in Kuala Lumpur.

In Menggatal, it is slated to develop linked houses and walk-up apartments on a 20-acre tract. In Kuala Lumpur, it will build serviced apartments on a 4.3-acre parcel in Jalan Langkawi, Setapak, and a 4.8-acre parcel in Segambut.
