KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 23): Sapura Resources Bhd posted a 55% jump in its net profit for the second quarter ended July 31, 2014 to RM2.05 million, from RM1.32 million a year ago.

Revenue also increased to RM9.99 million, from RM8.71 million.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia this evening, Sapura Resources said the increase in earnings was due to the increase in revenue from its aviation segment and a decrease in the group's operating expenses.

"The group is currently in investing mode; the board of directors expects a challenging environment, going forward," it said in its filing.

For the six months to July 31, net profit rose 31.4%, from RM2.8 million a year ago to RM3.69 million.

Meanwhile, revenue rose 4.35% to RM3.69 million, from 2.8 million.

The stock closed one sen higher at RM1, with a market capitalisation of RM138.2 million.
