KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 4): Ranhill Utilities Bhd has secured two contracts worth a total of RM161.26 million relating to efforts to reduce non-revenue water (NRW) in Pahang and Johor.

The contracts were awarded to the group's wholly-owned unit Ranhill Water Services Sdn Bhd (RWS).

In Johor, the two-year contract for NRW reduction worth RM156.76 million was awarded by a related party, Ranhill's 80%-owned unit Ranhill SAJ Sdn Bhd.

The project, RWS' sixth NRW-related job in Johor, was secured through a competitive open tender process, and work is due for completion by December 2023, Ranhill said.

"RWS has been undertaking NRW project in Johor successfully in a holistic manner since its inception in 2005 and has reduced NRW in Johor from over 37% in 2005 to 24.88% as at Nov 30, 2021.

"The project is part of Ranhill SAJ's operating expenditure and as such will be fully funded by Ranhill SAJ," Ranhill said.

As for the contract in Pahang, it is worth RM4.5 million and was awarded by Jejak Teknologi Sdn Bhd.

This NRW project, whose main client is the Ministry of Environment and Water, is slated to commence on Wednesday (Jan 5) and end on Sept 5.

Shares of Ranhill settled up half a sen or 0.93% at 54.5 sen, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM699.85 million.
