KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 10): Plastic products maker Ralco Corp Bhd has announced a temporary stoppage of its manufacturing facility in Nilai, Seremban until Feb 15, after several of its factory workers tested positive for Covid-19.

As a result of the temporary closure of the affected plant premise, the capacity loss is estimated to be less than 1% of the total annual output volume, said Ralco in a filing to Bursa Malaysia today.

Its other production facilities located elsewhere are operating normally, Ralco added.

During the temporary closure, the affected plant will carry out disinfection and sanitisation procedures. Operations are expected to resume in stages from Feb 15, said Ralco, who has been conducting Covid-19 screening tests for both its local and foreign workers at all its factories.

“The affected employees are currently receiving medical treatment at Government Healthcare Facility as per the directive from [the Ministry of Health (MoH)], and all employees in the affected plant premise have been placed under self-quarantine,” Ralco said.

“Disinfection exercises at all our premises and workers' accommodation will continue to be conducted regularly, with all the necessary precautionary measures strictly in place to fight against the Covid-19 Pandemic,” Ralco added.

Ralco’s shares closed unchanged at 88 sen today, giving it a market capitalisation of RM44.7 million. Over the past year, the counter has risen some 283% from 23 sen.
