The official partners for The Edge Malaysia Property Excellence Awards (TEPEA) 2022 may come from different industries, but their core values embody all the qualities that the awards strive to uphold.

Kaimirra Tutan has been roped in as the event’s official jewellery partner for the first time, while GSPARX Sdn Bhd is again the official solar partner for the second time.

A wholly-owned subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Bhd (Tenaga), GSPARX focuses on providing end-to-end solutions, from design and supply to installation, testing and commissioning of rooftop solar photovoltaic panels. It serves a wide customer base from residential and commercial to industrial and government sectors.

“When GSPARX first came on board as the official solar partner of TEPEA, we were, and still are, very eager to enhance awareness of our solar expertise in the eyes of the property development sector. Since then, we have formed strategic partnerships with Sime Darby Property Bhd and S P Setia Bhd to offer them the best solar solutions,” says the company’s managing director Elmie Fairul Mahsuri in an email interview.

He adds that although the company has only been around for four years, it endeavours to help customers achieve their ESG (environmental, social and governance) commitments, and hopes to engage and develop strong relationships with those in the property industry.

Kaimirra Tutan, a luxury jewellery brand from Canada that was launched in 2010, uses gems like the rare Ammolite gems in its handcrafted pieces. There are three collections for its discerning clientele, namely the Couture Collection with statement pieces; Fine Jewellery Collection for unique pieces that can be worn daily; and the Jewellery Collection comprising pieces in simpler and minimalist designs. The Ammolite gems are harvested in the Bearpaw Formation, which stretches from Alberta to Saskatchewan in Canada, and done in such a way as to avoid negative environmental impact.

“The journey to discovering a property that truly speaks to you, one that inspires wonder in its every facet, is similar to Kaimirra Tutan’s brand essence,” group managing director Damien Foo says in an email. “We believe that appreciating the finer things in life goes beyond just aesthetics — the finer things in life should ignite in you a sense of fulfilment and true ownership. That’s why we’ve decided to come on board as a partner, because we know that TEPEA holds the same beliefs as we do.”

TEPEA is The Edge Malaysia’s annual property awards ceremony, which is anchored by The Edge Malaysia Top Property Developers Awards, and honours property developers for their contributions to the built environment.

Peer-reviewed and audited, the awards focus on qualitative and quantitative attributes so that financial competency is married with qualities of good branding and design to ensure that a brand and product are of the highest quality. These values are what resonate with the official partners.

Elmie believes GSPARX’s association with The Edge Malaysia and the awards will generate interest among property developers and owners seeking a solar solution. “We aspire to become a viable partner in the value chain of building homes and commercial assets that are sustainable-ready. With our expertise in solar energy, we are open to future collaborations in harnessing the power of the sun to reduce their carbon footprint and enjoy bill savings at the same time.”

Meanwhile, Foo believes that the core values of TEPEA and Kaimirra Tutan blend well together. “Like TEPEA, Kaimirra Tutan focuses on selecting and delivering quality ‘gems’ to our audience. These awards don’t just celebrate sustainability in construction, but also innovation and creativity — two guiding principles we hold in high regard when crafting our jewellery.”

Moreover, the time, money and effort spent in finding a house is similar to choosing that special jewellery piece for a loved one and, as such, complement TEPEA’s efforts in recognising property developers that produce quality products.

“Searching for the right piece of jewellery or your future home is an intensely personal feat and we believe that together, we can not only embody excellence, but also provide the lifestyles that people want,” says Foo.

For Elmie, as awareness of what GSPARX brings to the property development industry spreads, he believes this will help the nation better understand what it takes to conserve and preserve resources for future generations.

“We hope there will be greater awareness of GSPARX and our capabilities in the field of solar power generation for everyone, be it in the commercial, industrial or residential sector.

“Along with Tenaga’s other subsidiaries, we are also able to offer alternative smart solutions such as EV (electric vehicle) charging facilities, battery storage and broadband. We play a key role in Tenaga’s ambition to drive the energy transition agenda in Malaysia, and GSPARX is ready to collaborate with like-minded organisations that are looking to create a better, brighter world together,” he says.
