KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 31): Prestariang Bhd has named its senior independent non-executive director Datuk Maznah Abdul Jalil as the group’s new non-executive chairman.
 
She replaces Datuk Mohamed Yunus Ramli Abbas, 70, who has resigned from the group, “as he intends to focus on his long overdue time for himself and family”, the group said in a filing today. 

Last November, Maznah, 65, was appointed as a director of Felcra Bhd. 

She also serves as SCS Global Advisory (M) Sdn Bhd’s chairman and sits on the board of several other companies. 

Shares of Prestariang rose two sen or 4.69% to settle at 34 sen today, valuing the company of RM161.57 million. 

The counter has plunged about 80% over the past one year. 

It was among the top 20 active counters on Bursa Malaysia today, with a volume of 18.15 million shares.
