KUALA LUMPUR (July 2): Pos Malaysia Bhd surged as much as 16 sen or 10% to RM1.71 so far today after the company announced yesterday a proposed final single-tier dividend of four sen per share for financial year ended March 31, 2019 (FY19).
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, Pos Malaysia said the planned dividend will be tabled at the company's 27th annual general meeting on a date to be announced later.
"The entitlement date and payment date in respect of the proposed final single-tier dividend will be determined and announced in due course," Pos Malaysia said.
The four sen dividend will bring Pos Malaysia's total FY19 dividends to 12 sen a share based on the company's reported dividend of eight sen a share so far,
according to its 4QFY19 financial report.
Pos Malaysia proposed the four sen dividend despite reporting an FY19 net loss of RM165.75 million versus a net profit of RM93.25 million in the previous financial year.
At 3:10pm today, the stock pared gains at RM1.68 with 8.04 million shares exchanging hands.
Pos Malaysia shares were traded among Bursa Malaysia top gainers.
