KUALA LUMPUR (May 16): More than 10 police cars and a Black Maria (a police truck used to transport prisoners) arrived at the residence of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Jalan Langgak Duta, Taman Duta here tonight, Bernama reported.

The lorry believed to be bringing boxes to be filled with documents and the cars started arriving at 10.15pm.

The residence and the surrounding area is tightly guarded by police and the media is not allowed to get close.

Earlier, Najib had returned to his residence at 9.53pm after performing the tarawih prayers at the Kampung Baru Mosque in the city. Muslims in Malaysia begin the Ramadan fast tomorrow and the tarawih prayers are performed on the eve and each  night of the fasting month.

The Toyota Vellfire MPV Najib was in was also escorted by police outriders.

Malaysiakini reported that Sentul deputy district police chief Mohamed Rafiq Mohamed Mustafa, who was seen leaving the house at 11.40pm, told the media "wait and see" when asked what was going on.

At about 11pm, a man claiming to be Najib's lawyer was seen entering the house.

Some 20 minutes later, the Najib's former Press Secretary Tengku Shariffuddin Tengku Ahmad arrived at the residence.
