KUALA LUMPUR (April 23): Petronas Refinery and Petrochemical Corp Sdn Bhd confirmed today that as of 6pm yesterday (April 22), a total of eight staff of contractors working at the Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC) had tested positive for Covid-19. 

In a statement to theedgemarkets.com today, Petronas said they are part of the Pengerang cluster as reported by the Ministry of Health (MoH).

"Out of the eight positive cases, three individuals have been discharged while the remaining are undergoing treatment and are responding well. All necessary measures have been undertaken under the guidance of the MoH to contain the spread of Covid-19.

"Following the Movement Control Order, PIC has implemented risk management and mitigation measures to reduce Covid-19 exposure to our business operations. PIC is fully cooperating with the MoH and will follow MoH’s procedures.

"Our priorities remain in protecting the health and safety of our employees, contractors and surrounding communities. We will continue to monitor the situation and work closely with all the relevant authorities,” Petronas said.
