<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner>KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 10): Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (PetChem) has awarded a US$328 million engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contract to a consortium led by Italian firm Tecnimont S.p.A for a package of the refinery and petrochemical integrated development (Rapid) project in Pengerang, Johor, relating to the realisation of a polypropylene unit. 
 
The consortium comprises Tecnimont, Beijing-based China Huanqiu&nbsp;Contracting &amp; Engineering Co Ltd, Tecnimonthqc Sdn Bhd and Tecnimonthqc S.&nbsp;c. a r. l. of Italy.</div>

<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner>In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, PetChem said its wholly-owned&nbsp;subsidiary PRPC Polymers Sdn Bhd has awarded the EPCC contract for Package&nbsp;27 within the Rapid project to the consortium based on competitive bidding. 
 
The polypropylene unit will have a capacity of 400,000 tonnes per year. 
 
"The contract will commence on Nov 10 and the completion date is expected to be&nbsp;on July 9, 2019," it added. 
 
"The board of directors is of the opinion that the award of contract is in the&nbsp;ordinary course of business and is in the best interest of the company," said&nbsp;PetChem. 
 
At Bursa Malaysia today, Petronas Chemicals shares rose one sen or 0.1% at 12:30 p.m. to RM6.92, for a market value of RM55.36 billion. The stock saw some two million shares traded.</div>
