KUALA LUMPUR (April 1): Panasonic Manufacturing Malaysia Bhd announced the appointment of Kenji Kamada to the position of managing director, effective immediately. 

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Panasonic said Kamada, 56, succeeded Toyokatsu Okamoto, who resigned from the post consequent to retirement from the executive position. 

Okamoto, 63, was appointed as the group’s managing director on Oct 1, 2016. 

Prior to today’s appointment, Kamada was the managing director of Panasonic Appliances (Thailand) Co Ltd and Panasonic Appliances R&D Center (Thailand) Co Ltd, the Thai subsidiaries of Panasonic Corp in Japan.

Panasonic’s share price closed up 20 sen or 0.65% to RM31.2, bringing it a market capitalisation of RM1.9 billion. There were 3,000 shares traded. 

The company share price has rebounded 37% from last year’s low of RM22.82 on March 19, 2020.
