KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 18): PA Resources Bhd's share price rose 8.33% this morning after Nirvana Asia Group founder and executive chairman Tan Sri Kong Hon Kong emerged as a substantial shareholder of the former.

At 10.05am, shares of PA Resources gained 0.5 sen to 6.5 sen with some 11.7 million shares transacted, making it one of the top active stocks on Bursa Malaysia.

In a bourse filing, PA Resources said Kong's vehicle Sekitar Tropika Sdn Bhd bought 187.04 million shares or an 8.44% stake in the company via a private placement on Nov 13.

On June 21, PA Resources announced its plan to raise up to RM23.39 million via a private placement of up to 525.53 million shares, or 20% of its total issued shares, to third party investors.

The company said the proposed private placement enables it to raise funds for capital expenditure and working capital requirements for its aluminium extrusion and fabrication business.
