KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 7): OpenSys (M) Bhd announced it has received an additional order worth RM10.8 million to supply cash recycling machines (CRMs) to Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) branches.

CRMs are dual-function machines that replace standalone cash deposit and dispensing machines in banks and financial institutions.

It enables deposited cash to be “recycled” and dispensed to customers, hence improving operational uptime and saving banks up to 30% of costs, OpenSys said in a statement.

“With this current undertaking, OpenSys continues to maintain our market leadership in the CRM space, by deploying more than 80% of CRMs in Malaysia,” said the group’s CEO, Eric Lim Swee Keah.

“This additional award from BSN demonstrates the CRMs’ ability to generate significant savings in operational costs, improving operational efficiency and enhancing customer service for banks.

“We are proud to play a role in continuing to support banks’ digitalisation and operation enhancement efforts, and endeavour to further encourage these initiatives,” Lim said.

OpenSys supplied BSN the initial batch of CRMs in 2019. With this latest order, BSN would commission more than 270 CRMs across branches nationwide by the end of 2022.

Lim noted that banks are reinforcing the urgency to enhance operations with new and proven technologies.

“This indicates a positive growth outlook for our core business for the new financial year ending Dec 31, 2022,” he said.

OpenSys is a solutions provider for the financial services, telecommunications and utilities industries. It provides total assisted-service and self-service solutions together with comprehensive professional and support services to these industries.

Shares in OpenSys finished one sen or 2.63% lower at 37 sen on Monday (Feb 7), valuing the group at RM165 million.
