KUALA LUMPUR (May 21): Shares of Omesti Bhd rose some 30% to an intraday high of 64 sen today as at 2.45pm, or its highest in six months, partly due to the sterling quarterly results posted by Microlink Solutions Bhd, of which Omesti owns an 88.52% stake. Omesti’s stock opened at 50 sen earlier today.

The usually lightly traded Microlink saw its stock hit a limit up price of 92 sen from its closing price of 62 sen yesterday. This represents a one-year high in terms of the share price as well as trading volume.

In a filing to the exchange yesterday, Microlink posted a tremendous increase in its earnings for the three-month period ended March 31, 2015 due to growing software sales. It delivered a net profit of RM10.24 million on the back of RM61.94 million in revenue.

In comparison, it posted a net profit of RM1.82 million and revenue of RM10.29 million during the previous year’s corresponding quarter.

Microlink’s earnings is set to be reflected in Omesti’s own set of financial results. The company will disclose its final quarterly results for the financial year ended March 31, 2015 by the end of this month.

Microlink is involved in the provision of banking software solutions while Omesti, formerly known as Formis Resources Bhd, is an IT services provider.
