(Oct 27): There is nothing improper about holding placards questioning Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s RM2.6 billion political donations, Amanah said today.

PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said earlier today PAS lawmakers did not join Pakatan Harapan lawmakers in raising the placards after last Friday’s budget because they were not “street protesters”.

“They (PAS) didn’t have a problem raising placards in the Dewan Rakyat when opposing the goods and services tax (GST) last year,” Amanah communications director Khalid Samad said at a press conference at the Parliament lobby.

“The speaker has not commented (on whether it’s proper). We don’t need a second speaker,” Khalid said.

He said that PAS was “making an excuse” for refusing the hold the placards along with the other opposition lawmakers.

He said that even the recent Fastaqim rally that PAS organised in Kota Baru was filled with placards.

Khalid also said that it was not “right” for Hadi to say PAS had never depended on any other party and that other parties always depended on them.

“I don't think it's quite right to say that. If you are talking about Kelantan or Terengganu, maybe yes,” he said.

“But if you are talking about national politics, it's not accurate. PAS came to the forefront thanks to Reformasi and Barisan Alternatif,” he added.

He said that PAS had not “done well” in states outside Kelantan and Terengganu.

“It all depends on their destination. If they want to just go back to being in just Kelantan and Terengganu, then they can do that (be alone),” he added. – The Malaysian Insider
