KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 26): North America-based manufacturers of semiconductor equipment posted US$3.92 billion in billings worldwide in December 2021 (three-month average basis), said the US-based Semiconductor Equipment & Materials International (SEMI).
In its December Equipment Market Data Subscription (EMDS) Billings Report published on Tuesday (Jan 25), SEMI said the billings figure is 0.5% lower than final November 2021 billings of US$3.93 billion and 46.1% higher than December 2020 billings of US$2.68 billion.
SEMI president and CEO Ajit Manocha said that after record-breaking billings of North America-based semiconductor equipment manufacturers in November 2021, December billings remained robust and were the second-highest ever.
“For the first time, billings topped US$3 billion every month of the year, nearing US$4 billion by year end, demonstrating unprecedented demand and exceptional execution by equipment suppliers," he said.
The SEMI billings report uses three-month moving averages of worldwide billings for North American-based semiconductor equipment manufacturers. Billings figures are in millions of US dollars.
